Sunset On the Harbor - Destin Chamber of Commerce
Join us for our 4th Annual Sunset on the Harbor celebration! This year’s event kicks off with a ‘Fishing for Business’ Corporate Fishing Challenge, where 4-person teams, 2- person teams, and individuals will board party boat Destiny at noon and compete for the largest fish award. The boats will dock and unload their catch at the Destin Fishing Fleet Marina, behind Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant, at 6 p.m., and join in the festivities already underway. The entire Destin community is invited to the Destin Fishing Fleet Marina between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., for a fish fry, silent auction, and a 'Destin Sunset' cocktail making contest. All those over 21 who purchase a ticket to the fish fry are invited to sample and vote for their favorite 'Destin Sunset' cocktail, as made by area restaurants and bars. A live DJ will create the perfect soundtrack, as we celebrate sunset on the beautiful Destin Harbor. Fish fry tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children.
FORT WALTON BEACH — The 23rd Annual St. Mary’s Spring Fling will be held April 11-15 at the C.H. “Bull” Rigdon Fairgrounds at 1958 Lewis Turner Blvd. Admission and parking are free. It is the same Spring Fling area families and visitors have enjoyed for years. It’s just moved from the church grounds to behind the fairground buildings to allow more room for the midway rides and games and the food court. Ongoing construction work for the new courthouse prompted the move to behind the buildings, organizers said. Enter the fairgrounds by the ball parks and drive through the gate. Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Explorers will guide festivalgoers to the large parking area. Regular midway armband price is $22 and $20 with a discount coupon. There will be coupons in the newspaper as well as thousands of coupons sent to schools in Okaloosa County, organizers said. Individual ride tickets will also be available.
