Aloha!
Located on the beachside of Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, Luau is a pair of newly constructed high-rises with a Polynesian flare.
The Luau entry foyer arouses visions of the South Pacific, with its slate flooring and bamboo and rattan ceiling.
The lush tropical landscaping of the Luau pool vicinity celebrates the spirit of the Polynesian Islands. Water cascades down from volcanic rocks into the 4,000 square foot saltwater pool; jets of water gush up from the kiddy pool creating a fountain that is sure to entertain the kids; and the bubbling hot tub invites those who seek a warm, therapeutic jacuzzi. Don’t forget to grab a frozen margarita or strawberry daiquiri and a tasty sandwich from the poolside tiki bar (seasonal).
As you probably know, a luau is a traditional Hawaiian feast featuring delicious eats from the South Pacific. We strongly recommend that you have your own luau at Luau, but with a touch of Destin! The onsite family BBQ facility features stainless steel gas grills... perfect for grilling your favorite cut of meat from Publix or those fillets from the grouper you caught earlier out in the Gulf.
Don’t forget about the sunset deck! Located on the 20th floor of Tower 1, the sunset deck offers spellbinding panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico, Baytowne Golf Course and the renowned Sandestin coastline.
Ellipticals, treadmills, stationary bikes and free weights await those who want to take advantage of the onsite Luau fitness center, which is conveniently located on the ground floor of Tower 2.
Luau 6802 is located on the 8th floor of Tower 1 and offers unforgettable western views of the Gulf of Mexico, golf course and pool. This unit is elegantly decorated with furnishings fit for King Kamehameha himself. The kitchen features marble countertops, black appliances and a breakfast bar. The guest bedroom is a lock-out studio unit and has its own kitchenette (equipped with microwave, sink, mini-fridge, toaster & coffee pot), twin sleeper sofa and dining area that seats two.
Check out the aerial photo by clicking on “All Photos” and you will see that Luau Tower 1 is located very close to the beach - about a 2 minute stroll away.
When you stay at the Luau, you will be ensured Kaiolohia... which means “tranquil peace of mind” in Hawaiian. It really doesn't get much better than this.
We stayed at Sandestin Luau 1, 6802 with two teens during Spring Break, The unit consists of two apartments that open onto a common foyer. There is a studio with a full bathroom, double bed, sofa sleeper and small refrigerator and microwave. The other side of the suite consists of a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and wrap around balcony with panoramic views of the ocean, golf course and pool. There is a coffee table, that is actually a storage chest holding linens for the sofa sleepers. Our teenagers loved having their own area, and preparing snacks in the kitchenette. The kitchen was fully stocked with all the dining and cooking utensils you need and being able to make an occasional meal was a great conveninece. We liked the location and walked to the beach each day. If you want to use the chairs and umbrellas at the beach, you will have to pay $40 per day, but the rate goes down if you purchase multiple days. They tried to make me pay $50 per day, the non Sandestin guest rate, since we rented through Destin Getaways and not Sandestin. But after al while, he relented and rented it for $40. There are other freebies Sandestin offers that guests who rent thorugh outside firms cannot access. These include free bicycles and the resort shuttle. This was not a big deal to us as we had a car. There are two beach chairs and an umbrella in the closet so you can bring your own shade if you like. It's important to remember that that this is a rental condo, and not a hotel. When you make your reservation, read the confirmation thoroughly. You will get one roll of toilet paper, one roll of paper towels, etc. You will need to run out to the grocery store to stock up on paper products and dishwasher detergent. You will also need to bring a beach towel although these can easily be purchased in town or on the beach. We went to Baytowne Wharf a couple of times. It's an entertainment area on the other side of Sandestin with restaurants, shops and clubs. It was fun The Hilton is next door and I visited the spa there. I highly recommend it. Jackie gave me a fabulous message.
Dear Guest, Thank you for the wonderful review! I know that other travelers will love to read all of the details! Please keep in mind that our prices are lower than those of other companies which helps to offset the cost of bicycle rentals if you decided to rent them. We do have our own amenity package which includes 1 free round of golf per day, discounts on Big Kahuna's Waterpark tickets, discounts on rental cars, bicycle rentals, 10% off dinner and much more! Thank you! Management
The room was a corner room with an excellent view. I had requested a additional room when I determined I had more people coming and the room was adjacent to the original one. The building was quiet and clean. Everyone at the Desting Getaway Rental office was more than accommodating and very pleasant. I will definitely stay here again.
The unit was very comfortable with two king beds, a twin sleeper(mattress not so good) and pull out sofa sleep(comfortable mattress). View was outstanding for not being right on the beach. It overlooks pool, golf course and gulf of Mexico. Nice building and easy walk to the beach. Unit was in great condition and very clean.
The condo was great! My only complaint was that the mattress in the first room needs to be replaced. A hurricane threatened the coast so it was a little rainy...we watched quite a few movies!
Thank you so much for your feedback! After reading your review, we inspected the issue, and we replaced the mattress. Thank you so much & we hope to have you back soon!
We had a blast and wish we could have stayed another week. Checking in and out was a breeze. The condo was very spacious and the tropical style pool was quite enjoyable. There was plenty to do in San Destin. The kids had a great time. The beach is somewhat of a long walk, especially for kids and all the items that are normally needed at the beach.
We had a great view and had a great time aat the pool
Condo was beautiful. Very satisfied with unit. A slight trek to the beach and wished we'd had the option for umbrella and chairs.
The services we received were very limited, and we had no idea where in the building things were, or who to contact if we needed something. We later discovered that we needed to call you for everything, but some contact in the complex would have been nice. The unit was very nice and the view was spectacular, so that made up for the cool weather during the month. Some assistance for golf amenities would have been appreciated, since your brochrues and ads all touted the free golf. May I suggest that you pay for the play card for at least one person so that they have that $125? Not being able to use the shuttle service was strange too, but we coped.
I wanted to do somthing different for me and my daughters on Thanksgiving since my husband was in Afghanistan at the time. The condo, located on a corner was very nice with lots of big windows, allowing a lot of natural light and a beautiful view of the Gulf as well as the surrounding area. This unit was not too high up and not to close the lower levels, providing a good view. I don't like to be too high up (makes for a long elevator wait sometimes) and don't like being too close to lower levels (don't care to hear or have a view of people around the pool). The experience was very relaxing and enjoyable. The only complaint I would have is the confusion when I first entered the unit. I had reserved unit 6802 and I also saw a door marked 6804 and didn't realize that both were included in my reservation. I opened the door marked 6802 / 6804 into a vestibule where there were 2 doors. Since my reservation was for 6802, I opened that door and found one room with a small refrigerator, microwave, king bed and a bathroom. I thought that there was a mix up with my reservation since I was supposed to have two bedrooms, two baths and a full kitchen. After calling Crye-Leike, I was told that 6804 was also a part of the reservation and that is where the additional space was located. I just wish I was told this in advance. Once that was cleared up, I was satisfied and on the way to one of the best Thanksgivings I can remember. I have stayed at the Hilton Sandestin on two occasions previously and this was my first time staying at a condo in the area. I really enjoy the Sandestin resort area because of the walking / biking trail, (which is a great way to burn off those extra calories). Although not exactly on the Gulf, the Luau is just a short stroll away. I would highly recommend this condo to others.
We traveled with a party of seven people (2 adults, 2 teenagers, and three children under 7 years of age). The "lock out" 1 bedroom condo was perfection for the eager-to-be independent teens! In addition to their bed, they had a pull-out sofa which provided relief when one of the little one's were too much for us to handle. Our room was beautiful, clean, and it looked brand new. The view was fantastic! The kitchen was fully equipped with every imaginable utensil and all of the pots, pans, and dishes you could ever ask for. The beach was georgeous, and the pool was a favorite after a long day in the sand. This was definately one of the best vacations we ever had, and we look forward to this being a yearly tradition!
