Aloha!
Located on the beachside of Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, Luau is a pair of newly constructed high-rises with a Polynesian flare.
The Luau entry foyer arouses visions of the South Pacific, with its slate flooring and bamboo and rattan ceiling.
The lush tropical landscaping of the Luau pool vicinity celebrates the spirit of the Polynesian Islands. Water cascades down from volcanic rocks into the 4,000 square foot saltwater pool; jets of water gush up from the kiddy pool creating a fountain that is sure to entertain the kids; and the bubbling hot tub invites those who seek a warm, therapeutic jacuzzi. Don’t forget to grab a frozen margarita or strawberry daiquiri and a tasty sandwich from the poolside tiki bar (seasonal).
As you probably know, a luau is a traditional Hawaiian feast featuring delicious eats from the South Pacific. We strongly recommend that you have your own luau at Luau, but with a touch of Destin! The onsite family BBQ facility features stainless steel gas grills... perfect for grilling your favorite cut of meat from Publix or those fillets from the grouper you caught earlier out in the Gulf.
Don’t forget about the sunset deck! Located on the 11th floor of Tower 2, the sunset deck offers spellbinding panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico, Baytowne Golf Course and the renowned Sandestin coastline.
Ellipticals, treadmills, stationary bikes and free weights await those who want to take advantage of the onsite Luau fitness center, which is conveniently located on the ground floor of Tower 2.
Luau 7609 is located on the 16th floor of Tower 1 and offers unforgettable eastern views of the Gulf of Mexico from the living room. This unit is elegantly decorated with furnishings fit for King Kamehameha himself. The kitchen features marble countertops, black appliances and a breakfast bar. Both the master bedroom and guest bedroom offer northern views of Choctawhatchee Bay and championship golf courses. The guest bedroom is a lock-out studio unit and has its own kitchenette (equipped with microwave, sink, mini-fridge, toaster & coffee pot), twin sleeper sofa and dining area that seats two.
Check out the aerial photo by clicking on “All Photos” and you will see that Luau Tower 1 is located very close to the beach - about a 2 minute stroll away.
When you stay at the Luau, you will be ensured Kaiolohia... which means “tranquil peace of mind” in Hawaiian. It really doesn't get much better than this.
We have stayed in a two bedroom unit at the Luau before. We mistakenly thought that this unit would be the same as the one we had previously rented. It was much smaller, especially the living room and dining area, which is where we spent most of our time. The master bedroom was also much smaller. The description of the views is also misleading. This unit's balcony actually overlooks the parking lot, and more improtantly, the very loud air conditioning units. The noise made sitting on the balcony much less enjoyable. You can see the gulf at an angle, but it is not a direct gulf view and the balcony is very narrow. No table or chairs. Overall, we enjoyed our stay because we love Sandestin, but this particular unit was pretty disappointing.
We had four teenagers and two adults and had plenty of room to spread out. Room was great.
Diane was prompt with our requests l. There were only 4 teaspoons in kitchen 2. There was trash under beds 3. 5 days before our lease expired, the cable WENT OUT and was not fixed before we left. I suspect the owner did not pay his dues. How it is legal to shut off the tenant I still ponder? 4. There was no vacuum sweeper available.
The resort was very nice! Loved the fact that we could walk to the beach, go swimming in the pool, shop, fine dining, etc. all right there! The condo was spacious and had a great view of the ocean. We loved the fact that there were so many shops and different types of entertainment close by. My only complaint was that our room key got jammed one day and we had to sit outside the room for an hour and a half while waiting on a locksmith to come fix the door. Of course we were in wet swimsuits during this time. :( We did have a nice, relaxing week though. Great place to stay.
Great vacation. We needed a place near the Sandestin Hilton, and Luau was perfect. Having two separate bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths and a kitchen made a huge difference. Pool was great too. Also incredibly cost effective for seven guys in their 20s looking to save a few bucks. Having a large balcony with a great view--icing on the cake. Only downside: we would have had trouble getting around the resort without an official pass from the wedding party. Since we had the card, we used the shuttle. Without that, we would have been a little stranded. Other than that, no complaints at all.
Overall, we had a great time, and decided on our drive back to Texas that we would likely come back. Very easy and quick access to the beach and to the shops, restaurants and entertainment at the Baytowne Wharf. Check-in was too crowded and took too long in the very tiny office with at least 3 families showing up at the same time. The condo, overall, was great. It was clean and well-furnished. The only drawback was that we had to purchase lightbulbs for every lamp in the condo, as they were all burned out. The property, overall, was good. Very clean and the employees were courteous and helpful. Slow elevators and very few umbrellas at the pool detract from the experience. We would have preferred to have access to some of Sandestin's amenities, such as the ability to rent chairs/umbrellas at the beach and the ability to ride the tram.
Loved it great pool and close to beach!!
