f you thought you had to go clear to Mobile, AL or New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras, you are wrong! The Emerald coast knows how to party too! Mardi Gras kicks off here in Destin tonight with Destin Commons’ Mardi Gras Masquerade, and the celebrations will wrap up with the Fat Tuesday Baytowne Bash at the Village of Baytowne Wharf.

Mardi Gras Masquerade- Destin Commons

This Family Friendly Event features the tastes and sounds of the French Quarter. Live music will kick of the event at 5 pm and will feature the local band Jones & Company. Visitors will be able to enjoy complimentary tastings of hot gumbo from the Groovy Grouper and red beans and rice from AJ’s.

For those of you who love a good parade, the fun really starts at 8 pm when the the 40-float Mardi Gras Parade will begin to roll down Main Street from Bass Pro Shops to Belk. You’ll be able to grab your fair share of Mardi Gras swag as parade participants fling beads and throws at onlookers!

Artist Mark Douglas will be doing caricatures and guests can also take their pictures in the Mardi Gras photo booth. Kids will be able to have their faces painted, do crafts, and check out a magic act! When it’s all over guests can view pictures fromt he event on Destin Commons website: www.destincommons.com

Pardi in Paradise- Harbor Walk Village

Harbor Walk Village will be hosting a Mardi Gras parade on Saturday, March 01 at 2 p.m. Attendees will see street performs, brass bands and live music and what Mardi Gras parade would be complete with beads and throws! The parade will begin at AJ’s Seafood and Oyster Bar and end on the west end of Harbor Walk Village. The parade has more than 100 entries.

Mardi Gras Pet Parade- Village of Baytowne Wharf

The Village of Baytowne Wharf is hosting its 11th annual Mardi Gras Pet Parade at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 02. Costumed dogs accompanied by their humans will make their way through the village while throwing beads and throws. This is a free event to attend and a great one to bring the kids to! This years theme is Pups and Pearls: Walk the Red Carpet.

Ribbon cutting/street party- Jackacudas Seafood & Sushi

Jackacudas Seafood & Sushi will have its official ribbon cutting on Fat Tuesday and will celebrate in true Mardi Gras style. The event will include free red beans and rice and a street party in HarborWalk village from 5-11 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4.

Fat Tuesday Baytowne Bash- Village of Baytowne Wharf

The Baytowne Bash Parade will be rolling through Sandestin at 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 04.Colorful floats, pick-ups and golf carts will roll down the streets and marchers dressed in their Mardi Gras best will shower parade-goers with a barrage of beads, moonpies and throws. The celebration won’t stop when the parade is over, it continues on into the night with street performers, parties and throws tossed from balconies!
