Next week Sandestin kicks off its annual Blue Marlin Classic Fishing Tournament. Started in 2003 by a group of guys from Galati Yacht Sales and the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort, the area needed a big money fishing tournament and year after year it has yet to disappoint.  Last year the tournament had several broken records with the highest one being the new record prize purse which sat at around 1.9 million.

World Class Fisherman come from all over the country seeking the top prize. They head out early mornings and come back late afternoons to the Baytowne Marina which will be hosting weigh-ins. The resort itself will be hosting nightly events, live entertainment, and a firework show on Friday night.

Wind Creek’s Executive Chef, Chef Peter D’Andrea, will be returning and bringing a taste of Wind Creek. He will be hosting a cooking demonstration at the Baytowne Marina Friday from 12 to 2 PM.

Anglers are looking to hook around 2 million dollars in prizes. Watching the fisherman bring in their catch is a must see. Last year’s amazing Blue Marlin catch weighed in at a whopping 899.6 pounds! This year records are predicted to shatter and you certainly don’t want to miss out. Admission is free to the public to view weigh-ins.
