Golf enthusiasts love Destin for its year-round play and pristine courses. Looking for something to do with the kiddos? Mini golf is the perfect family-friendly attraction, and there are several in the area to try. Golf Garden has both an 18-hole mini putting course and a nine-hole, Par 29 Executive Course. There are even a driving range and practice greens here to perfect your game.
Fishing Charters & Cruises
Fishing doesn’t end in the winter in Destin. You can still catch a wide variety of fish along the Emerald Coast and especially in the Choctawhatchee Bay. You’ll enjoy fewer crowds on the water and even deals on local charters and fishing gear. Common winter catches include redfish, white Bonita, sheepshead, speckled trout, white snappers, and vermillion snappers.
Treat yourself to a relaxing and rejuvenating massage, facial treatment, and more at Avona’s Massages. Destin Getaways guests receive special discounts on services like a hot stone massage, couples massage, reflexology, sugar scrub body treatment, body wrap, and more. Avona’s offers services to walk-in’s but reservations are preferred to be sure a qualified therapist is available for exactly what you need.
Destin Florida is home to several outdoor shopping centers, including Destin Commons, the Okaloosa Island Boardwalk, and HarborWalk Village. You can find pretty much whatever you need at these shopping centers and you won’t have to worry about intense heat or large crowds like in the summer.
There is an average of seven rainy days in Destin during the winter months, and bowling is one of our favorite indoor pastimes. Visit Hurricane Lanes Bowling Center for bowling, arcade games, billiards, air hockey, and more. This spot has 26 bowling lanes, Rupert’s Sports Bar, and the adjacent Club LA concert venue.
Enjoy the Trails
The temperatures during the winter in Destin make it a perfect time to get active outdoors. You can go biking, walking, and running along the Timpoochee Trail Bike Path, a 19-mile paved path that offers views of the Gulf of Mexico through Santa Rosa Beach, Blue Mountain Beach, Grayton Beach, and Rosemary Beach. This is a point-to-point trail and you can explore any amount of it that you’d like.
Other nature preserves to visit include Henderson Beach State Park, Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, and Grayton Beach State Park.
Destin and the surrounding area is host to a number of winter events as well. From holiday events like the Destin Holiday on the Harbor Lighted Boat Parade and NYE Baytowne Countdown to the Lovetracks 5K and Annual Camellia Festival at Eden Gardens in February, there are activities for all.
