Dog Beach License Permit in Walton County
Dogs are allowed on beaches in Walton County with a permit, which you can get at the Walton County Clerk's office. To receive a dog beach permit, you need to prove that you are a property owner or resident in the area. You'll need to have proof of current rabies vaccination. The permit costs $40 per year. With this permit, you are allowed to take your dog to Walton County beaches between 3:30 pm and 8:30 am and your dog must remain on a leash the entire time.
Dog Parks
While you're here, there are several dog parks to explore and let your dog run around. Visit the Destin Dog Park, Alaqua Unleashed Bark Park, and Henderson Beach State Park. Keep in mind that at Henderson Beach State Park, dogs are only allowed on the nature trails and are prohibited from going to the beaches because of the fragile ecosystem there.
If you're wanting a more open space for your dog to roam, Destin Dog Park and Alaqua Bark Park are the spots to go. Alaqua is the largest off-leash dog park in Walton County and it features three different areas for large and small dogs, as well as a large shaded area and puppy pools to stay cool.
