Covering an estimated 163 acres of land along the Florida Panhandle, Eden Gardens State Park is both scenic and historic. The park is along Highway 98 just north of Seagrove Beach near Point Washington State Forest and the Choctawhatchee Bay.
Home to an 1897 mansion, lush gardens, and old growth oak trees, Eden Gardens State Park is a great place to explore for the day. The park features hiking trails, a canoe or kayak launch, picnic areas, and spots for fishing. Walk along the colorful camellias and azaleas from October to May, unwind at the reflection pond with lilies and koi fish, or visit the butterfly garden. Eden Gardens State Park is magical no matter what time of the year.
Recreation at Eden Gardens State Park
The nature trails of Eden Gardens State Park offer a quiet and accessible retreat into the forest. There are several easy and short trails to walk along the Spanish moss-covered oaks and through the ornamental gardens.
Eden Gardens is also a popular spot for fishing on Tucker Bayou and Choctawhatchee Bay. Keep in mind that a fishing license might be required.
You can bring along a canoe or kayak to use at Eden Gardens State Park. The Tucker Bayou launch offers day use access to a shallow body of water. You must bring your own canoe or kayak, or rent one off site.
The Historic Wesley House
The Wesley House is a focal point of Eden Gardens State Park and is a common location for weddings and special events. The two-story house is stark white with a wrap-around porch and columns. Build from native yellow pine by William Henry Wesley, the home is a true reflection of what life was like along the northwest coast in the late 1800s. Visit the home during the holidays when it’s all lit up, or plan a tour to learn about the history of the space.
Eden Gardens State Park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset every day of the year. Guided tours of the Wesley house are available hourly Thursday through Monday. Visit the small gift shop located inside the Wesley Mansion to help support the operation and maintenance of the park.
